Marvel.com: What role does Magneto play in UNCANNY X-MEN? What does Cyclops want him to do there?
Brian Michael Bendis: You said before that having Magneto there is a scary thing. He’s infamous. I think that having Magneto there lets everybody know that Cyclops isn’t messing around. Cyclops is talking a good game, but when you’re standing there next to Hitler, it has people pay very close attention to what you’re saying. He says he doesn’t want people to be scared of him, but then why are you standing next to this guy? I think that Cyclops likes having this tough father figure around. I think it’s just the way he’s wired. It’s so complicated to me because I also think on a weird level that Magneto keeps Cyclops honest, and vice versa. As I said before, I think there’s a level where he’s trying to say to himself, “I’ve been fighting with this guy for years and it never led to anything. When we’re teamed up, we compromise with each other and it’s a lot easier to work with him than without him.”

he's really into morrison, isn't he? i think it's his fave. you'd think (well, *i*'d think, \/\/) it would be whedon's astonishing, but if it were, he'd write emma better.

imagine if they talked to each other just like they write.
