i'd never read goethe's faust before, it's this english translation i downloaded from project gutenberg.
when he says he found a poodle, is poodle a catch-all for dog, like it could be any kind of dog, or did mephistopheles really turn into a black poodle as in the breed. bc if it's the later, suddenly this is amazing to me.
i'd probably be better off reading an annotated version of this in portuguese.
