the originals 2x09
1. beloved claire holt's out for good, a new witch!rebekah is in. now klaus and elijah are the last 2 originals. kinda worrying considering the show's called, y'know, THE ORIGINALS.
2. "Elijah is happiest when there’s music and order." / Headcanon: Elijah’s dream gig is writing opera, classical concert and ballet reviews for The Guardian.
3. I'm calling it: Finncent or Dahlia or Freya saved Esther from death/becoming a vamp.
4. "I WISH YOU WOULD TELL ELIJAH YOU’RE MARRYING YOUR WEREWOLF SUITOR, AT WHICH POINT I’LL POUR HIM A SCOTCH AND CONGRATULATE HIM ON THE BULLET HE DODGED."
Time to pour that scotch!
My favorite thing about the sex scene is that it came across (to me, anyway) like a clean break. “Here’s to acknowledging our 1+ year of intense UST because we won’t get another chance to get it out of our systems.”
And then it’s implied they’ll both go their separate ways, each with a mission. Hayley dealing with Jackson and never-ending werewolf dramz and Elijah dealing with the vamps since he now is the only “pure” original vampire standing.
Sounds tentatively promising!
I mean, I never begrudged Hayley’s werewolf storylines (even though I have zero investment in them), but I did and still do begrudge Elijah getting dragged into them as a supporting figure throughout most of season 1 when it would have made much more sense for Klaus, a werewolf by birth and Hope’s father, to be the one dragged into bayou drama.
Now here’s a golden opportunity to FINALLY give Elijah, supposedly the deuteragonist of this story even though there’s been little narrative evidence to back that position up, a prominent arc of his own. An arc that does NOT revolve around Klaus, Hayley, their magical baby and Hayley’s werewolves.
Ideally, this would culminate with Elijah realizing he deserves more than being the third wheel extraordinaire, glorified Alfred Pennyworth to Klaus+Hayley+Baby, but this show doesn’t exist to make me happy, so I won’t be holding my breath. I’ll just say a quiet prayer and hope for the best.
Lemme put these here bc I feel I've gotten everything I could possibly get from this show already and I have very little reason to go back save for Freya Mikaelson and Dahlia turning out to be awesome:
