if there was some way to mix XMFC fandom's (hilariously saintly) take on xavier with how marvel has been painting him for the past decade (shady, useless, irrelevant douchebag), maybe i'd get the character i'm interested in? ... probably not.
i think morrisson's take + mike carey's + james mcavoy is what i really want.
that or back from the dead de-aged xavier globetrotting, abusing his power, having a blast and going fuck all, y'all.
awhile ago, someone (i remember guessing one of the jean fans by the tone) asked tom brevoort on his formspring something along the lines of, don't you think it sad that fans care more about the marvel properties/characters than marvel comics itself?
and then brevoort replied something like, it's not that the fans care more, it's that they care about different aspects of the properties.
and that's exactly it.
marvel comics' "architects" & i are just never in sync when it comes to what's relevant to our interests.
also, they can write 34567895676 . ∞ stories about scott summers and his brood, i'm never going to give a damn. his power bores me.
