brooms: everything ends (time is so old)
christopher nolan's oeuvre has never been quite my bag, but having finally seen TDKR, i have to thank him for giving me the closest thing to a satisfying conclusion to a batman saga i've ever got and probably will ever get.

i mean, all i can see is that ending and how perfectly it fit to my very particular taste when it comes to the batman mythos.

bruce faking his death! making sure alfred knows he's alive and happy at last! with selina (who was GREAT in this movie, loved her, top marks, responsible for 90% of my enjoyment)! in florence! with clean slates! all of this in a world without an extended batfamily, where the guy the movie implies will take up the mantle is a grown up. AN EX-COP.

all i can say is yaaaass, TDKR's ending, yaaaass! you look so good! you look beautiful (*)!

speaking of beauty, that charity ball scene was beautifully shot and acted. A+.

(*) ...to me. i know batman fans wanted dick, jason, tim, barbara. but they have that in copious amounts in the comics. i have around 15 minutes of perfection in TDKR, that's it.

- lemme take back what i said about scoop because it gets HILARIOUS once they actually hit ishmaelia. the best kind of insightful stand-up routine hilarious. a lot of it reads like it was written sometime in the past 2 decades, it's kinda eerie.

- shattered glass is the sort of movie that i could see david fincher watching and redirecting in his head.

- for my own reference: Stephen Glass Should Be a Lawyer, slate article written jan '14 by hanna rossin's husband. ("His “turpitude” required him to show overwhelming evidence of rehabilitation, but the court found his apologies self-interested, his confessions incomplete, and his pro bono work insufficient. Lawyers must be utterly devoted to “honesty,” the justices assert—a claim that only lawyers could make about law with a straight face" lmao)

“In 2003, 455 films were released. 275 of those were independent, 180 were studio films. Last year 677 films were released. So you’re not imagining things, there are a lot of movies that open every weekend. 549 of those were independent, 128 were studio films. So, a 100% increase in independent films, and a 28% drop in studio films, and yet, ten years ago: Studio market share 69%, last year 76%. You’ve got fewer studio movies now taking up a bigger piece of the pie and you’ve got twice as many independent films scrambling for a smaller piece of the pie. That’s hard. That’s really hard.”

i'd so love to read really long hannibal meta on abigail and miriam lass and clarice starling. i have feelings, but i can't articulate them, and the show is making me ship lecter/clarice harder, not less. MADS' lecter/clarice, even.

& turns out dance academy s3 will be out in july, not this month. so from the best possible month to the worst possible month, for me. i'll wait, tho. i miss it.
