hey, girl!
Oct. 18th, 2013 12:43 amthe preface of this copy of japanese fairy tales that i got from feedbooks is like, "THIS TRANSLATION IS FOR MY HOMMIES IN THE WEST (ELEANOR, GIRL, I MISS U)!! I ADDED SOME COLOUR WHEN I THOUGHT SHIT GOT TOO BORING, D/W!"
i'd never heard of yei theodora (this middle name is everything) ozaki before, but she sounds amaaaazing.
Of mixed Japanese and English parentage, Yei Theodora Ozaki was well known for her English translations of Japanese fairy tales. Yei fled an arranged marriage as a young girl and remained single until her 30s when a postal mistake over their similar names introduced her to her future husband. (x)
hoping japanese fairy tales don't have the same hard on celtic fairy tales seem to have for the jerks triumphing over magical beings theme.
i've never in my life felt a desire to re-write a random ass fable as much as the sea-maiden.
