it's actually about BSG and kara/lee (and the mummy, because it all started with the mummy).
i love a good brainy girl/dumb (i suppose i should say less cultured?) jock who appreciates her dynamic! i usually have a harder time dealing with it when the lady is the less cultured one, tho. (easier if the lady is human and the gentleman is an alien. or an immortal supernatural creature, whatever.)
like. there's this rogue/magneto scene in carey's x-men: legacy where rogue makes a passing comment on indian architecture to magneto and magneto immediately corrects her. then rogue says (paraphrasing), "i was just trying to make conversation".
... JUST TYPING THIS MADE ME CRINGE, OK?!
now, i don't like magneto/rogue. i disliked it even before i'd read that scene, it's off-putting to me in very visceral ways that i can't even begin to explain, so i have a bias.
that said, switch the dialogue and suddenly that scene is a lot more tolerable! ofc, it wouldn't be very believable for rogue to know more about indian architecture than magneto unless she'd absorbed an expert, BUT STILL. and it's comics, less believable things happen all the time!
WHAT I HAVE REALIZED is that there would be no need to switch the dialogue for kara/lee.
i would not cringe.
they were so perfect.
